Showcase Your Job Quality Innovation!

All around the country, employers, unions, nonprofits and public agencies are taking action to improve job quality in the low-wage labor market. CLASP wants to draw attention to these promising innovations and we need your help to find them. Please nominate innovations that you have underway, know about, or are a gleam in your eye.

Job quality is a choice, not an inevitable consequence of an economic environment. High-road employers have shown that they are able to do well by their employees while making a profit. Progressive states and communities have demonstrated that they can implement policies that improve job quality for low-wage jobs while meeting the needs of employers and strengthening regional economies.

Governments and businesses can improve job quality in numerous ways. CLASP will issue a publication later this year that highlights promising ways to improve job quality for low-wage workers. We hope to draw more attention to these efforts, to identify what's cutting edge, and encourage replication and cross-pollination and even more outside the box thinking.

What innovations should you nominate? We have picked four topics and each month we will provide details on one. (You can nominate in all four topic areas and with as many innovations as you know about.)  The four topics are as follows:

JANUARY: Linking workforce and economic development to improve productivity and effectiveness of low-wage employment (follow links for more details);

FEBRUARY: Using intermediary organizations to stabilize employment, provide opportunities for advancement and increase worker access to public and private sector benefits;

MARCH:
Providing flexibility at work as a way to increase worker engagement and improve retention;

APRIL: Recognizing employers who provide high-quality employment opportunities and encouraging other employers to adopt such approaches.

What do you need to do to nominate an innovation?  It's simple. Just email us at innovations@clasp.org with a description of the innovation and the name, telephone number, and email address of the person(s) to contact for additional information. Also, please provide any available web links to information about the policy innovation.

Please submit innovations by the last day of each month.
